Conversation

Repeat the conversation after your teacher.

Then, practice the conversation 2 times with your partner, once doing part A, the second time as part B.

Finally, practice it again, but this time use your name and your information.

Pronunciation

Listen to your teacher and repeat the words after your teacher.  Take care to pronounce the words exactly as your teacher pronounces them.

Grammar

Yes/No questions are questions that can be answered with a yes or a no.

"Do you like studying English?  -  Yes, I do."
"Is your father tall?  -  No, he isn't."

Wh- questions are good to get more details.

"Why do you like studying English?  -  Because it's interesting."
"Where do you study English?  -  I study English at Chosun university."
"When do you study English?  -  I study English on Monday and Wednesday."

Listen to your teacher. What is the intonation (억양) of your teacher's voice during Yes/No questions?  Is it rising or falling ?  What about Wh- questions?

In groups of 2 or 3 people, ask a yes/no question then ask two or three wh- follow-up questions.  Ask at least 3 yes/no questions with follow-up questions.

Conversation Practice

Famous Person 20 Questions

Player One - Think of a famous person and answer questions about that person.  You can only answer "Yes" or "No".

Other players - Try to guess who player one is thinking of...you can only ask yes/no questions.

Example:
Other players: Are you a woman?
Player one: Yes I am.
Other players: Are you a singer?
Player one: No, I'm not.
Other players: Do you play sports?
Player one: Yes, I do.
Other players: Are you a golfer?
Player one: Yes, I am.
