Warm Up

Homework - Write the Korean word beside each activity.  This should be done in your book.   Show your teacher.

Ask your partner about activities that they enjoy.  Use who, what, where, when, how or why for follow up questions.

Listening and Conversation

Listen to the conversation.  Fill in the missing words.

Answer the questions by listening to the conversation.

Skip these questions.
(You don't have to answer these questions.)
Why does she have to go there?
What doesn't he do anymore?
These questions are almost the same...answer only one. What does he do?
What does he like to do?

Conversation

Match the place with the activity.   Note: each place can have more than one activity.

Practice the conversation with a partner.  Change roles and practice again.
Now practice again, but this time use your information.

Pronunciation

Carefully pronounce the "P" sound...it should not sound like a "B".

Say one of the two words to your partner.  Can your partner correctly choose what word you said?

pot pan pen pin pork put P lap pop
bought ban Ben bin Bork but B lab bob

Grammar

Play / Go / Do

Use 'play' with a game that has 2 or more players, or with musical instruments. (tennis, baseball, basketball, soccer...the piano, the guitar...)

Use 'go' with activities that can be done alone and end in 'ing'. (skiing, hiking, shopping...)

Use 'do' with groups of related activities.  (homework, housework, exercise, the laundry, the grocery shopping...)

Remember:  You are too old to play.  I like to play with my friends is not correct.  Only children play.  Adults play sports, games, or musical instruments.

Conversation Practice

Student A:  You don't know about Elaine, Larry, Rachelle or Suzanne.   So you must ask your partner:

"Who is Elaine?"
"What does she do?"
"What does she like to do?"

Student B:  You don't know about Dwayne, Charlie, Russell or Sandy.  So you must ask your partner:

"Who is Dwayne?"
"What does he do?"
"What does he like to do?"

Notice the difference in the questions:
What does he do?
What does he like to do?
He is a/an (job).
He likes to (activity).
